What used to be a dated home office—with deep red carpet and heavy furniture—has become a bright, modern workout space that makes you want to get moving. This recent transformation took a room that had lost its purpose and turned it into something fresh, clean, and motivating.

How the Room Came Together
We started by removing the old carpet and installing waterproof vinyl plank flooring—durable enough for high-traffic use but sleek enough to give the room a finished feel.

Crisp white baseboards helped brighten the space, while custom shelving now keeps everything organized: hand weights, shoes, an exercise ball, and even a dedicated hook for storing yoga mats.

A new ceiling fan brings in much-needed airflow, and brighter lighting with dimmable settings makes it easy to switch between high-energy workouts and slower-paced sessions like yoga or stretching.

The treadmill and stationary bike have wheels, so they can be moved easily when extra floor space is needed.
One of the standout features is the wood slat accent wall, which adds warmth and texture to the room. It’s the kind of detail that makes the space feel intentional—less like a converted spare room and more like a place you want to spend time in.

Thinking of Creating a Home Gym? Here's How.
You don’t need a huge space or a full set of machines to build a great home gym. Whether you’re converting a guest room, a basement corner, or even part of a garage, a few thoughtful details can go a long way.
Choose the right flooring: Look for something durable and easy to clean—rubber mats, foam tiles, or vinyl plank flooring are all solid choices depending on your workout style.
Think about flexibility: If space is limited, look for easy-to-move or store equipment. Foldable benches, compact machines, or anything with wheels can help keep the space functional and adaptable.
Use vertical space. Wall-mounted hooks or shelving can help you keep things organized without taking up floor space. It also keeps your gear easy to grab and put away.
Consider lighting and airflow. A ceiling fan or a minor HVAC upgrade can make the space more comfortable, while good lighting can completely change how a space feels.
Add your own style. Plants, art, mirrors, or a wood slat feature wall can help the room feel like an extension of your home, not an afterthought.
A home gym doesn’t have to be flashy or expensive—it just has to work for you. When the space feels good, you’re more likely to use it. And sometimes, that’s the hardest part of any workout: just showing up.
